'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Newey 'no brainer coming to Millers'

Rotherham United defender, Tom Newey said that it was a 'no-brainer` coming to the Millers.

Newey, who had been offered a one year extension at Bury told The Advertiser that once he found out that Rotherham were interested in him then there was no where else he was going.

'Seeing how well they did last season, the plans for the new stadium and them being a big club it was just too good to turn down,` the twenty-seven year old said.

Tom, though, said there was a downside to joining the Millers which was leaving former Rotherham boss, Alan Knill, behind at Bury. 'I can`t speak highly enough of Alan Knill,` Newey said, 'He`s a very good coach, very good at what he does and he gets his teams playing good, attractive football. Alan has gone in at Bury and done a good job and I think they will be up there again this season.`

Speaking about himself, Tom said, 'I`ve been around the lower leagues quite a while and played a lot of games but I`m still at a good age and I feel I have a lot to offer in terms of experience.

'I`m excited about the new season and I can`t wait for Saturday.`
