RUFC - Ronnie on his striker search

Rotherham United Manager, Ronnie Moore has said again that he won`t bring anyone in just for the sake of it.

Speaking on Thursday to MillersPlayer, Moore admitted that he had been talking to strikers and doubted that any would be coming in before Saturday.

'We`ve spoken to Jon Macken`s agent but there`s a number of clubs in for him. I think he`d be alright here but I can`t twist the players mind and tell him what he`s got to do. He`s got it in his own head what he wants to do and his agent knows what he wants to do so it might happen it might not. In the meantime we`re talking to someone else just to make sure we don`t end up with nothing.

'Macken`s link up play is good. He get`s balls into feet and they stick they don`t come of him. He scores one in four which is a good average and, at thirty-two, he`s fit and I think he`d be a wow for us. And, if we could get him it would be great but if we can`t then we have to be looking elsewhere.

'The problem is there isn`t a lot of experience about. There`s lots of young kids you can have and we`ve taken in one young kid, Elliott who has got great ability and I think is going to be OK. Will he score enough goals? Well, he needs to practice a lot more on the training ground and that`s what we want to do with him. He`s big and strong and he`s got pace to burn and can head a ball so I don`t see any reason why he shouldn`t score.

'But, I`m not going to bring someone in just to make the numbers up. We`ve had to sit tight. There`s two or three clubs after Jon Macken and three clubs after the other player we`re in talks with and you`ve just got to be strong.

'It`s not long before the season kicks off and these players haven`t got clubs yet. But, some of the demands some players are asking for are just ridiculous so we are going to sit tight and see what happens.`
