RUFC - There was a bid for Alfie

RUFC - There was a bid for Alfie

Rotherham United did have a bid for Adam Le Fondre but Manager, Ronnie Moore told MillersPlayer that it was a joke.

Before yesterday both Moore and Chairman, Tony Stewart had said that it would take 'daft money` to prise the Millers` striker away from the club and when Moore was asked last night about the bid he said, 'Was it a bid?

'I think someone`s playing games really. The money involved was a joke and swapping a player was a joke. So, at the end of the day, the Chairman`s said 'nothing doing` and that`s the end of the story.`

Asked if an official offer had been made, Moore said no one had spoken to him but the Chairman had been approached.

Asked about the transfer deadline day Moore said, 'It`s been frustrating and I`m disappointed that we never got another striker in. I`d like to have brought our Ian (Thomas-Moore from Tranmere) but they wouldn`t shift on it. But, you never know, in a week`s time we can use the loan system and a lot of things change.`
