'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Moore 'Players were fantastic'

Rotherham United Manager, Ronnie Moore said he couldn`t fault the players after the one-nil defeat to Shrewsbury at the New Meadow this afternoon.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield, Moore said, 'I thought they were fantastic. We paid for five minutes of madness really. We didn`t start well and conceded a really sloppy goal. But some of our passing in the second half we absolutely pulverised them and Woggy (Andy Warrington) didn`t have that much to do and how they got out of jail I`ll never know.

'The goal was a sloppy one-two but once he`s got in there we`re looking for the centre-half to come out and do something about it. But both centre-backs stayed where they were and the lads half mis-kicked it and it`s ended up in the back of our net.

'I`m not going to have a go at them because some of the football was a joy to watch and at the end I think they thought they`d won the FA Cup and it was probably relief.

'Their two wingers cheated all afternoon, counter attacked us in the first half but once we kept the ball I thought we battered them second half and it`s just a tragedy that we haven`t come away with something. Some of the shots we`ve had were fantastic I mean Warney`s (Paul Warne) got on and he`s threatened and chased people and put them under pressure and won more headers than Tom (Elliott) did and Tom`s six foot three and Warney`s five foot eight! I was pleased with Warney`s contribution and when he came on I thought we passed and moved but didn`t get the break.`

Asked about Jason Taylor and Nick Fenton, Moore said, 'Jason Taylor does a good job for us. He sits in there and allows Danny (Harrison) to get forward to get strikes. It was great to see Nick Fenton back and he`s now putting pressure on all the back four.

'I thought John Mullins was immense today with his passing movement and he was just shot really wasn`t he and could perhaps have come off five minutes before but while you`re looking good and keep going you`re reluctant to change it.

'But, it was a good all round team performance in the second half

'I said to the lads in there that if they give their all and play like that week in and week out we`ll not be too far away.`
