RUFC - Taylor Rising To The Challenge

When Jason Taylor left Rotherham for a loan with Rochdale last season few would have expected him to return to The Don Valley, let alone play a pivotal role so far, as he has this season.

Taylor helped Rochdale to promotion last season although he returned to Rotherham at the end of his loan spell to be told by Ronnie Moore that it was down to him to prove himself and show The Millers manager that he was worthy of a place in the side.

The 23-year old has done just that and, as he told The Sheffield Star, now hopes to retain his place in the side and will play where asked: 'I'm happy to be back playing and in the side. I have started well and hopefully I can nail down my place.

'I don't mind doing any job as long as I'm playing in a winning team. I've just comeback from Rochdale, knuckled down and worked hard.

'I have always been confident in my own ability. I just want to be playing and if the manager thinks that I'm the right person to do a job then great. But there is still a long way to go so I need to keep on producing to keep my place.'

Taylor's contract ends at the end of the season, although thoughts about a new deal are not on his mind at the moment - with the midfielder of the belief that these things 'take care' of themselves: 'my plan is to get my head down, play as well as I can and those things (contract) will take care of themselves.

'It is a long season but I've been happy with how things have gone so far.'

Have you been impressed with Jason Taylor following his return to the club after his Millers career looked over, and are you also impressed with the midfield partnership struck up with Danny Harrison?
