RUFC - Cresswell Says Bring On The Battle

Just because you are the captain this does not mean that you are assured a place in the side does it? This is something that Ryan Cresswell firmly believes.

New signing Exodus Geohaghon has formed a good defensively partnership with Cresswell, who also joined over the summer, although Nick Fenton is now back from injury and Ronnie Moore also has other options to select from.

Cresswell, as he told The Sheffield Star, isn't taking his place for granted and is using the competition for places as a further means of motivating himself: 'being captain doesn't mean I'm an automatic starter.

'I still have to prove to the manager that I deserve to be playing. Nick coming back can only benefit the team.

'There is extra competition for places now but I'm up for the challenge as I'm sure Nick is.'

With Cresswell, Geohaghon and Fenton battling for the two central defensive places against Burton this weekend The Millers captain confessed that he is glad that it is Moore, and not him, having to select this side although he is preparing to be a starter should that be the case: 'I'm glad that I don't have to select the team. I'm just going to try to make sure that I am ready for Saturday and that I keep performing to the best of the my ability.'

Who do you think Ronnie Moore will select against Burton, and will Ryan Cresswell be among those that he does?
