'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Three Years is a Long Time in Football

Three years ago this week, on Vital Rotherham United we had a poll asking Where do you expect the Millers to be in three years time

Nearly half of those who voted expected us to be in League One, with just seventeen per cent thinking we would be exactly where we are.

Here`s how the poll ended

In League One 47%
I fear the worst 23%
Where we are now 17%
In the Championship 9%
In the Conference 4%

Three years is a long time in football and especially for the Millers. In the last three years we`ve had the ups and downs of the normal game, we`ve had a new manager, an ex manager return, administration, threats of folding, We`ve moved from our spiritual home to a stadium that was never ever meant for football. We`ve seen players come and go - some to higher places, some who just thought they should have been in higher places. We`ve been laughed at, scorned and, by the odd few, even hated. We`ve had points deducted and, at times, felt that the whole football world was against us. We`ve had the thrill of getting to Wembley and the disappointment of losing there. We`ve beaten teams that were way above us and lost to teams that should have been beaten from the first minute.

But, we`ve fought it all and are now on the brink of a future, which for some, three years ago, might not have seemed possible.

So, here`s to another three years of supporting the Millers - hopefully, in some respects, a quieter three years!

And now to ask the same question again - Where do you think we will be in three years time?
