'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Moore 'we rode our luck'

Rotherham United Manager, Ronnie Moore said that his side had a 'bit of fortune` after their four-one win at Underhill this afternoon.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield after the win at Barnet this afternoon, Moore said, 'I thought we were sloppy for an hour and Woggy (Andy Warrington) made some fantastic saves and the lad Marshall has got clean through and put it past the post . But, once we got the goal I think it settled us down a little bit and in the end we could have got another few.

'Popey (Tom Pope) and (Mark) Bradley came on and it gave us a bit more strength up there and the ball wasn`t coming back as often as it had been. It was good to see Popey get a goal and I thought it was a good pass from Bradley to Law for him to pick Popey out and I thought both subs have come on and done very well for us. Bradley`s done alright and its food for thought for me and Popey has come on and done everything I`ve asked of him so it`s something to think about for the big derby game next week.

'It`s nice to be scoring the goals and nice for different people to be getting the goals because it takes that little bit of pressure of Le Fondre. But we can`t defend like we defended in the first half and fifteen minutes of the second half and hope to get away with it.

'There`s still plenty to do and plenty of work to do with the back four but they`re new and it will probably take a little bit longer than I thought it would do.

Speaking about Popes goal, Moore said, ''He tried his hardest to miss it. But he said he was just taking care that he didn`t miss it.

'It was nice when it went in because we`d rode our luck for an hour but sometimes that happens. Football is like that and you grind out results and we might look back at the end of the season and say how did we go there and win four - one but we`ve got three points.

'It`s all about sticking together and riding your luck and when you get the opportunities it`s being more lethal in their box than they were in ours.

'But we weren`t brilliant today and we rode our luck a little bit but I`m just thankful for the three points. When we went three up and then conceded with ten minutes to go I thought 'here we go again` after what happened last week. I mean, talk about being professional. We sent Ex (Exodus Geohaghon) up to take a long throw, he`s took a short throw and given it away on the break three against two with the centre half playing left wing. I mean it was stupid and if it had been nil-nil at the time we`d have gone berserk over it. But, the win is the most important thing and we got that.`
