RUFC - Millers Mayday Scheme

Rotherham United are keen to give their Millers Mayday scheme a bit of a boost.

The Mayday has been running for some years now and all profits go towards the Youth Development Programme and to converting the Centre of Excellence into an Academy.

Chief Operating Officer, Paul Douglas, told The Advertiser, 'Our youth programme is very important and without it the heart and soul of the club would disappear.

'There is no greater pleasure than seeing one of our own coming through and getting into the first team. Recently Stephen Brogan, Jamie Green and Ryan Taylor have all done this and two of our latest prospects are Grant Darley and Oliver Banks.

'There is a commitment here to youth development and we are proud of what we do and Mayday is an important part of that.`

At a recent meeting Mr Douglas said that of the 1,500 weekly Mayday numbers that are available for the weekly draw, only around nine hundred are taken up at the moment.

'Making up the subscription shortfall would have a significant impact on the club`s finances,` Mr Douglas said, 'and it would be great if we could get more fans to support it.`

Mayday is just £2 a week and every week there is a draw for a top prize of £1,000 plus five runners up who get £20 each. There is also an annual draw to win a brand new car.

If you are interested on joining Mayday then either call in at Mangham House or phone 0844 4140 733 which is the main switchboard.
