'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Kev says Alfie will be worried over pen!

Rotherham United's Kevin Ellison said it was about winning last night, and not about who scored the goals, saying winning breeds confidence.

With regular penalty taker, Adam Le Fondre, rested for the game with Burton last night, Kevin was in no doubt that he was going to take the penalty given after he was bundled over in the areas.

Speaking to MillersPlayer after the game, the former Tranmere Rovers player said, 'Both teams rested players and it was a chance for people like Greeny (Jamie Green) to impress which I think he did and Bradders (Mark Bradley) has done well.

'And we can go into training tomorrow and tell Alfie we've scored two goals without him so we don't need him! He'll be worried now because I took a penalty and scored!

'At the start of the season the gaffer told me and Lawsy (Nicky Law) that he wants us to chip in with a few more goals this season as well as wanting all the midfield to contribute. No disrespect to Sharpy (Ian Sharps) and Fenners (Nick Fenton) but none of our centre-halves scored last year and Cress (Ryan Cresswell) has got three already this season and so we are all hoping to help Alfie out.'

Asked about Mark Bradley, who scored the first goal for the Millers last night, Kevin said, 'To be fair he's been awesome in training and I think he's a bit upset with himself that he hasn't played more games but he's had his chance and he's done well tonight and scored a good goal.'

The thirty-one year old said he thought there was more togetherness this season within the team than last season, 'The gaffer has brought quality players in but we still have some players from last season and managed to keep hold of Lawsy and Alfie. Hopefully we can go one better this year.'

Speaking about the next round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, Kevin said, 'A good draw would be Sheffield Wednesday. But the League's more important and we're looking towards Saturday now and Stevenage which is going to be a tough game.
