'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Annerson thrilled to play

Rotherham United 'keeper, Jamie Annerson did himself no harm with some of the saves he made against Burton Albion on Tuesday night in the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy win and I don`t think Ronnie Moore would have any qualms about him playing in the first team again. It might also give first team 'keeper, Andy Warrington something to think about!

Annerson, who joined the Millers in the summer of 2009 from Sheffield United, made only his second first team start on Tuesday and he told The Advertiser that he`s been 'champing at the bit.`

'Andy and I have a good relationship,` the twenty-one year old said, 'but hopefully I`m putting a bit of pressure on him, although he seems to be man of the match every game this season.

'It is frustrating for me sitting on the bench all the time but I`m pleased for Andy because he`s playing so well and I`m sure he`d be pleased for me after Burton. I was disappointed not to keep a clean sheet with that goal late on in the game.

'I`m delighted we`re through to the next round and hope the gaffer keeps picking me to play in this competition. It would be great to get all the way to Wembley.`

Ronnie Moore said, 'He was fantastic with a few good saves and I was pleased for Jamie because he works hard in training. Andy Warrington is one of the best 'keepers in this division but if anything happened to him then we haven`t got to go looking for another 'keeper because we have Jamie to drop in. That is probably the biggest compliment I can pay the lad and there is no doubt that Andy Warrington is under pressure.`
