RUFC - Are we expecting too much?
It`s a question I asked myself during the first half of the game at Don Valley against Stevenage on Saturday.
'Are we expecting too much?`
I mean, the Millers are third in League Two with twenty points from eleven games and being one of only three sides in the Division who haven`t lost at 'home` (the other two are Chesterfield and Shrewsbury - the latter being the only game we`ve lost away). We`ve got a plus seven goal difference and the top scorer in the league belongs to us.
So, did it matter on Saturday that we all came away with long faces after an inept, to say the least, display from Rotherham United? Did it matter that we couldn't pass a ball, didn't bother the oppositions goalie too much or looked like a Sunday pub side?
We are, after all, a club in the bottom professional league with players to match (and officials to match for that matter).
So, should we expect any more than what we are getting?
Personally, I think, for my eighteen quid a week, we should get passion from the players. I don`t think we should rely on just two players to keep the game going and I don`t think we should only get forty-five minutes from our team - and we didn`t even get that on Saturday.
We have to realise we are just a small club, playing in someone else`s back garden at the moment and we have to hope that it will get better when we move into our new ground.
So, I`ll ask again, are we expecting too much? What do you think?
