'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Moore Post Wycombe

Rotherham United Manager, Ronnie Moore thought that his side deserved something today.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield after the four-three loss at Don Valley to Wycombe, Moore said, 'You can`t defend the way we defended in the first half and that`s where the game really got away from us. It was absolutely schoolboy defending.

'But we`ve had so many chances to win the game. I mean at two-two we`ve had a tremendous chance and we`ve missed it. We get a lad injured (Luke Ashworth) who has to go off and get stitches and we`re down to ten men and they pinch one right at half-time.

'Then we get a penalty which Alfie (Adam Le Fondre) scores and their 'keepers made a great save from Jason Taylor and then we`ve got in behind them and instead of pulling it back and picking somebody out Mullins has hit it` straight into the 'keepers hands.

'But we can`t keep defending like we have done at home. I mean we`ve had a six-four, we`ve had a three-three and a four-three today. You know, we`re playing at home and it should be a fortress here and we should be nicking games one-nil or two-nil not conceding and giving ourselves mountains to climb. Those goals we conceded today, we don`t get them. We have to work damn hard to get our opportunities. And getting back to three-three it was just disappointing that we didn`t kick on.

'They are a good counter attacking side and Betsy just sits in there and doesn`t track back or do anything but picks it up and can hit it. He`s destroyed us today. We couldn`t cope with him and that worries me a little bit. When we`re playing against a counter attacking side like they are you have to get the ball in behind them and make sure you don`t get caught on the break and we didn`t do that and they`ve gone away with the points.`
