RUFC - Moore Hopes His Gamble Pays Off
Rotherham United Manager, Ronnie Moore has seen new player, Mark Randall playing for Arsenal Reserves against Manchester City Reserves and was that impressed that he put in a somewhat cheeky ask to Arsenal Assistant Manager, Pat Rice, and got his man - well, as they say, you don`t get if you don`t ask!
Of course, playing in a Premier Reserve game is a million miles away from playing in a League Two league game and Moore admitted to David Beddows of The Advertiser that he doesn`t know what the twenty-one year old is going to be like.
'I know what he`s like playing in the Carling Cup when he has space to do his thing but you never know until you bring him in what he will be like. They are what gambles are all about. You don`t know the answer so do you sit on the fence or do you take a chance? I just hope he comes in and does it, that`s the big thing.`
Moore wasn`t really at the Arsenal/Man City game to see Randall, he was there to run his eye over Donal McDermott and Kelvin Etuhu but it was the Gunners defender who impressed.
'Randall had a fantastic game. He played central midfield and sprayed it all over. He went deep to get the ball off the centre-backs and played sixty yard balls inside the full-backs straight to the winger. He`s got a fantastic range of passing.
'It`s brilliant for the club that Arsenal have let a player who has played thirteen times for their first team to come here.
'I mean, you don`t play for Arsenal if you can`t play.`
