'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - View from the Opposition - Southend

Rotherham United Manager, Ronnie Moore bemoaned his teams lacklustre display in the one-nil defeat at Roots Hall yesterday afternoon and promised the fans that they would not defend like that again.

It was Southend`s first win in the league since the beginning of the month and their Manager, Paul Sturrock told their Official Site that it was 'good to win.`

Speaking after the game Sturrock said, 'We played a difficult team today what with the long throws and the way they play the game. Ronnie`s got them on the front foot and they attack and try to score goals all the time.

'We are going to have to try and keep working on our finishing because a second goal would have eased all the pressures and instead we were hanging on but, to be fair to the players, they responded properly and worked their tails off.`

Midfielder, Josh Simpson said, 'It was an important win and we`ll hopefully carry that on to Tuesday and get another win then. I`ve played more of a central roll today, which is my preferred position and I`m pleased that I set up Blair (Sturrock) for the goal but more importantly that we got the three points.`
