'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Warney can't imagine not playing

Rotherham United player/fitness coach, Paul Warne was disappointed after the draw with Macclesfield on Tuesday night at Don Valley.

The thirty-seven year old came off the subs bench in the second half of the game and told MillersPlayer, 'I was so keen to get on and try and do something influential that unfortunately I think I tried too hard and I was awful. I didn't enjoy the first ten minutes and I thought I took the abuse off the fans quite well and then I got into it and quite enjoyed it though I don't like playing left-wing I do enjoy playing. To be honest, I felt a bit rusty when I came on tonight but I don't want my career to fizzle out because the thought of not playing football breaks me and even at thirty-seven, the thought of not playing doesn't seem real to me.'

Speaking about the game, Warney said, 'We came into tonight`s game hoping to bounce back from Saturday but it wasn't to be. We had a lot of possession without much threat and it was only the last ten minutes where I thought we got a bit of steam up and pit a bit of pressure on but, up to then, I thought we were poor. For some reason it isn't clicking at the moment and we need to sort it out.

Speaking about Marcus Marshall who was also brought on as a substitute, Warney said, 'I thought he looked lively. He's been excellent in training and excellent in Reserve games and he deserves his chance and I thought he did quite well.

'It was nice to have Cress back (Ryan Cresswell). He was a calming influence all night'
