'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Moore 'we huffed and puffed'

Rotherham United Manager, Ronnie Moore thought the game today was a 'tight game`.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield after the goalless draw with York City, Moore said, 'People think because you`re playing a Conference side you can walk all over them and it doesn`t happen like that. They are a good strong side and it was a typical Cup game.

'We huffed and puffed around the final third and we need to improve around that area. We kept the ball well enough and some of the passing was OK it was just the end product. It was a tight game and played in the right spirit. We didn`t get the breaks today and I think we were lacking that bit of belief and spark in and around that penalty area.

'I thought the tempo was better today and we passed that ball about well at times and we had one or two little half chances where we snatched at them and didn`t score from. Alfie`s had a chance late on and it wasn`t like him not to hit the target from there but, overall, not the spark around their penalty area.`

Asked if he could understand the booing from the stands, he said, 'The fans want us to win games and probably one or two of them wanted me to put subs on but I didn`t think today was the right time to do it. You can`t win as a manager - you do it one week and they moan you don`t do it the next and they moan again. I thought it was a bit unjust being booed off, an over reaction. You need patience when things aren`t going quite right for you and you need the crowd to get behind you and it certainly doesn`t help what happened today. But, I can understand it because they wanted to win three or four and we haven`t done that.

'But we`re still in there, which is the big thing and there`s no doubt about it that we didn`t want a replay. We got the home draw but we just didn`t finish them off. We want to go as far as we can in the cup and we`ve just made it a little bit difficult for ourselves but the games not over. We know it`s going to be a tough game there but it`s for us to go and do it right.`
