'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Moore 'fantastic'

Rotherham United Manager, Ronnie Moore said it was a fantastic performance by his team at Crewe.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield after the one-nil win this afternoon, Moore said, 'It`s just a pity we didn`t get more goals.

'We could have come away with five. I mean, they had one real chance in the first half and young Jamie has made one hell of a save for us. He was very quick off his line and I think he had a brilliant game. He`s come out and kicked balls and he`ll be making Woggy (Andy Warrington) sit up and think now.

'We`ve come back from that second performance at York and one or two have put that to bed and we`ve run about and chased. We put Johnny Mullins at centre-half and he was fantastic and I thought the back four were solid. They couldn`t handle Marcus Marshall in the first half. It`s a pity the penalty didn`t go in but it was a good save by the lad. Alfie said he changed his mind at the last minute and we all know when you change your mind you don`t score.

Talking about the goal, which some are saying was an own goal, though I am certain Mark Bradley toe-poked the ball over the line, Moore said, 'It was a good ball in and the 'keeper has half come for it and flapped at it, it hit everybody and it looked like Bradders has got it - well, he`s claiming it - but I would imagine it`s come off the centre-half in the end.`

Moore was asked why the difference between today and Wednesday night and he said, 'I don`t know. We`ve freshened up a bit and Kevin Ellison has come back and showed a little bit of form and I just thought we looked more solid at the back which was the big thing for me and I was well pleased with Mullins` contribution. He was strong, he`s won a lot of headers, he was chasing back and he did well. And, if we can keep it right at that end then we won`t have a problem.

'On form I think we are a match for anybody. It`s just those silly individual errors that let us down. And, it`s always nice when we score first because when we do score first we are very hard to beat.

'We`ve got another massive game on Tuesday and if we play like this then we win, it`s as simple as that.`
