RUFC - Millers get Green Light for new Stadium

Rotherham United have been given the go ahead to build a new stadium on the old Guest and Chrimes foundry site in the town.

Millers Chairman, Tony Stewart bought the land in January this year and later acquired the land adjacent to it.

The Millers have to be back in the town by the start of the 2012/13 season, with accordance with Football League rules and have been playing at the Don Valley Stadium in Sheffield since 2008.

It is thought that the stadium will be bowl shaped with a two tiered main stand which will probably include hospitality and banqueting facilities while underneath the three single tiered stands will be rentable space.

Speaking to the Official Site, Mr Stewart said, 'We are delighted that the Council have granted the application for what is a significant regeneration scheme in Central Rotherham.

'This represents a significant step towards our goal of bringing the Millers back to Rotherham and we are all determined to make Rotherham United a football club that everyone in the town can be proud of and also feel a part of.'
