RUFC - Tonge is desperate to play
Rotherham United Manager, Ronnie Moore says that Dale Tonge is desperate to play.
The twenty-five year old picked up a metatarsal injury in the three-one win over Macclesfield at Don Valley in March and was on the way to recovery hoping to be fit to play in the opening game of this season. Unfortunately the former Barnsley midfielder suffered a setback in pre-season with a different metatarsal injury and has been sidelined every since.
Speaking to MillersPlayer, Moore said, 'He tried like mad to play in the Reserve game on Wednesday but Denis (Circuit) said he didn`t think he was ready. But he`s chomping at the bit so I wouldn`t imagine it will be too long. There`s a reserve game in mid-December and he`ll be ready for that and then, hopefully, will be knocking on the door for a first team game.`
Asking about other injuries, Moore said that the gap between games will give defender, Nick Fenton time to rest his calf injury. 'He needs to rest it. He didn`t train yesterday and won`t train today. Hopefully, Cress (Ryan Cresswell) will be back in full training on Monday and then we`ll get down to the business of getting that back four right and getting the team right.
'From Monday to Friday it will all be about getting organised, being hard to beat and getting back to the sort of form we were in against Aldershot.
'What we need is that gladiator spirit. We want everybody running and chasing and we want to get the crowd behind us. I`m sure the two players we`ve brought in will help with that.`
