RUFC - Good Response but More Show Shifters needed

RUFC - Good Response but More Show Shifters needed

Rotherham United's Assistant Groundsman, Ash Davison says there has been a good response to the appeal for people to come and help clear the snow off the pitch at Don Valley today.

Speaking to MillersPlayer, Ash said, 'It's been a good response and we could do with as many people as we can get down here and it would be good to see more people down here to give us a hand. The Gaffer's here helping out and if he can do it then everybody can, there's no excuses. What we could do with is Kevin Ellison coming down because there's plenty of hot air comes out of him! No, he's a good lad!

'The snow has given the pitch plenty of protection and where it's been cleared you can see that the ground, underneath, is soft. And, the plan for the rest of the day is to shovel as much of this white stuff off as we can. If we can get all the snow off then we'll cover the pitch, because it's better to be safe than sorry.'

Ash was asked about the conditions outside the stadium and he replied, 'That's totally out of my hands. It's the same everywhere. We are doing all we can to make sure we can get a game on this pitch, the rest is out of my jurisdiction.

'If we can get the snow off and the temperatures stay above freezing then we are confident that the game will go ahead on Saturday.'
