'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Douglas confident for Saturday

Rotherham United's Chief Operating Officer, Paul Douglas said the pitch was looking good after he had been helping shovel the snow off the pitch this morning.

Speaking to MillersPlayer after the first hour of shovelling, he said, 'We've managed to clear a good area of pitch and we feel a lot more confident that we are actually going to pull this off.

'We'll probably get the bulk of it done today if not all and with the temperatures as they are showing then we'll finish it off tomorrow and get the covers on and, if the temperatures stay as it's forecast, then there shouldn't be any problems for Saturday and the pitch should be playable.

'The biggest task then is making sure the stadium is in the state in needs to be in, which the General Manager at Don Valley, Pat Smith will get his men working on. And, once we've got the pitch cleared tomorrow then if any of our volunteers can help then they will do.'

Asking for more volunteers, Mr Douglas said, 'People don't have to think they can give us a full day. If they can just come down for an hour or two that will be fantastic, every little bit will help.'

Hope he is right because the last thing any club needs is a severe back log of games. Can't pay the wages on a promise of future games either.
