RUFC - Cress itching to play

Rotherham United skipper, Ryan Cresswell told The Advertiser that his back, which has kept him out of the team since mid-November is now fine.

The twenty-two year old only managed the first half of the win over Oxford before his back went into spasm and although he has twice tried to come back and failed before the kick-off, he says the problem is now over.

'I think I`ve been to eager to play when I should have been resting,` the former Sheffield United defender said. 'But, I`ve been seeing a specialist and he gave me the all clear on Monday with a routine of stretches to do,

'I`ve had the benefit of the Gillingham game being called off last week because it`s given me an extra week to get ready, although the training hasn`t been ideal with the weather being so bad. We were indoors Monday and it was a case of blowing the cobwebs away and then on Tuesday we were indoors again and it was high intensity.`

Cress is keeping his fingers crossed that the game against Aldershot is given the go-ahead saying, 'Having games called off back-to-back just kills you and no player likes having games postponed.`
