RUFC - Ronnie thinks Shots are play-off material

Rotherham United Manager, Ronnie Moore said he was surprised how comfortable it was against Aldershot in the play-off semi final legs, especially after only getting one point from six in the league.

Speaking to Millers Player Moore said, 'To be fair, we played well in the play-off game down there. And, we actually played well there in the league, but got beaten three-nil! And, it might sound stupid but that was really one of our better team performances without getting a result. To go an defend down there, like we did in the play-offs, was fantastic.

'But, they will be looking for revenge and they've got one or two new faces in there. They've got the lad Small who was at Chesterfield and they've got a bit of pace and we are going to have to defend well which is something we haven't done particularly well this season. We've got to make sure the two lads up front, because that's where it starts, work their socks off and the midfield players and the back four, when they are asked to defend, defend well. Morgan, up front is quick, six foot four or five, maybe could be better in the air, but he's always a threat and he's going to be a danger. We showed an interest in him last season but the asking price was out of our range.

'Aldershot are a good side and I honestly believe they are going to be play-off material. But, I think if we play to the best of our ability there won't be too many sides that will live with us.'

I have a feeling that he is just bigging them up to try to motivate the players and perhaps add a few derriers to the seats.

It's a poor week really for football crowds - near Christmas and we've only just really been able to get out this last week because of the snow.
