RUFC - Will enjoying his time with Millers

Rotherham United's latest loanee, Will Atkinson says he thought his debut, last Saturday, went OK although he didn't think he set anything on fire.

Speaking after the one-nil win over Aldershot, to MillersPlayer the twenty-two year old, who is on loan from Hull City, said, 'The most important thing was to get a win in front of the home fans, so I'm pleased with that.'

Asked about the penalty that was awarded against him, Will said, 'I've never given a penalty away in my life! I was just chasing back and he ran across me, and to be fair, I did clip him, so I knew deep down that it was a penalty.'

Asked if he would have liked his debut to have come earlier, Will said, 'We had one game postponed then we didn't play another week because of the FA Cup but it's given me time to settle in with the lads and they've made me very welcome. I've been here two weeks and training's been a bit hampered with the weather but when we have trained it's been a good atmosphere here and I am definite that they are a promotion chasing team.

Will, who scored a premiership goal a few months ago for Hull City, said there are some good players in League Two. 'I played in this league for Rochdale last season so I know what it's all about. And, it's competative football which is what you want to be playing, in front of a crowd, every week.

'I've come here to benefit Rotherham and for personal benefits and if it comes to the end of the season and I'm out of contract with Hull and Rotherham want me then I'm really enjoying my time here so I'd be more than happy to come but there are a lot of factors to consider and I'm just looking forward to the rest of my time here.'
