RUFC - Moore 'stronger side with Cress in'

Rotherham United Manager, Ronnie Moore bemoaned to Radio Sheffield about the bad luck skipper, Ryan Cresswell has had since joining the Millers in the summer from Bury.

He missed a few games due to a family bereavement and then has had a problem with a back spasm, which he`d just got right when he and an Aldershot player fell awkwardly last Saturday resulting in the twenty-three year old next week, sustaining a broken shoulder which was operated on at the beginning of the week.

'The operation went well,` Moore said, 'but the lad has been so unfortunate this season.

'We are such a stronger defensive side when he`s in there. He`s a man mountain for us really, a bit like Morgan is at Sheffield United. He gets in, he kicks it, he talks to people and leads by example and we miss that. Having him back was great for us and I think that`s why we kept a clean sheet on Saturday.`

Although the usual layoff for this sort of injury is three months, Ryan has said he hopes to be back in two and his manager said, 'Touch wood, if all goes well, then yes and it would be great if we could have him back in two months.

'But, it gives an opportunity to one or two of the other lads who are hear, like young Luke Ashworth who`s been in and out and up and down when he`s played and, if he can get a bit of consistency in there then the opportunity is there for him.`
