RUFC - Accrington game a doubt?

Rotherham United`s game on Tuesday afternoon against Accrington Stanley is already a doubt unless there is a major uplift in the temperatures which would enable the pitch at Don Valley to thaw.

Speaking to David Beddows of The Advertiser, Chief Operating Officer, Paul Douglas said, 'Although the Accrington game is still five days away the pitch at Don Valley is rock hard.

'We have the new frost covers but there is no chance when it is as cold as it is at the moment. To stand a chance of getting the game on, we need temperatures of up to four or five degrees on Monday along with some warmer air.`

After having the game at Torquay called off last Saturday with the team already there and supporters well on their way, early postponements, though not what anyone wants, is surely better all round.

Mr Douglas said they weren`t at all impressed with the way Torquay handled the situation saying, 'they didn`t keep us in 'the loop` and I don`t think they were prepared for the situation.`

At the moment, here in Rotherham, the temperature is -2 and it doesn`t look like it`s going to get much higher for the next few days.
