'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Tonge 'great to be back'

Rotherham United midfielder, Dale Tonge is hoping that he`s put the worst year of his career behind him, after playing the full ninety minutes against Macclesfield on Monday.

The twenty-five year old, who signed for the Millers in May 2007, spent more time watching from the sidelines than on the football pitch over the last twelve months after a stress fracture he suffered progressed to a full fracture. He came back from that only to break the same bone three more times meaning that his last two games for Rotherham were against Macclesfield in different seasons!

Speaking to The Advertiser after his first game back on Monday, the former Barnsley player said, 'It was one of the toughest games to come back to. The Macclesfield players are all giants and it was a real physical battle.

'It`s been a long road back but this time I had the bone pinned and rested it properly. I enjoyed the game and it was great to be back and free of pain, though I`m still a bit stiff.`

Tongey didn't put a foot wrong. I thought he did well to play the whole ninety minutes
