RUFC - Fans Interview - Stockport County

Rotherham United travel to Stockport on Tuesday night and Sam has answered us a few questions about the team he supports ....

Name - Sam

How long have you been supporting County - I've been attending for twenty years.

What made 'Stockport' the team for you? - My dad! Also my local team.

Can you remember you first County game - I can, a 1-0 defeat at yourselves Rotherham in the FA Cup 1990!

You're languishing towards the bottom of the league - can you see a reason for this (besides the fact you haven't won as many as the others!) - Administration for the past 18 months has completely torn us apart. We're bottom for now, but I'd like to think we're slowly rebuilding.

Was the sacking of Paul Simpson the right thing to do? Have you a favourite to come in and take over? - In my opinion, sacking Simpson was only right if Jim Gannon was lined up to come in. Gannon joined Vale, and so that proved not to happen. At the moment, our favourite is caretaker manager (and Gannon's old assistant) Peter Ward. A club legend who will be backed by all.

Who should we be looking out for on Tuesday night? - We've just completed four new signings, so quite a few! Ishmel Demontagnac and Stephen Husband, two pacy midfielders, have come in from Blackpool, while we've re-signed striker Anthony Elding who knows where the back of the net is.

When you think of Rotherham United, what are your first thoughts? - Solid. Always challenging around the top of the table...and of course, Adam Le Fondre our old striker! (you're not having him back!)

Where can you see County in three years time? - Hopefully stabilised and going for promotion in this division, rebuilding will take time.

Prediction for Tuesday night? - 2-2. I can't say a Rotherham win no matter how much I think it's likely to happen!

Thanks for taking time out to answer these Sam - as they say, when you are towards the bottom, the only way is up!

Sam just about sums County up. We are rebuilding but not sure if we will still be in the league come next season. Lets hope that Peter Ward can turn things around. I hope that you have a good season but only after we have beaten you on Tuesday. My prediction 2-1 to County.

Hi Mazarron - yes you seem to be having a bad time at the moment - lets hope it doesn't last - after Tuesday of course!
