'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Moore praises defence

Rotherham United Manager, Ronnie Moore said that the recent clean sheets his side have kept is 'fantastic'.

Ahead of tonight`s game against Stockport County, Moore told Radio Sheffield, 'Our back four this season should have been Nick Fenton, Ryan Cresswell, John Mullins and Tom Newey and how often have they played together? So it has been difficult and there has been the excuse that we haven't had a settled team in there. But I think the last three games with Mullins and Fenton together have been fantastic. And they've been asked to do a job against good teams. I mean, Port Vale's two strikers are a handful and at Macclesfield everything is the long throw and high balls so I think our defence has been fantastic.'

Asked how they had managed to keep the clean sheets, Moore said, 'We've worked hard with them. We've worked hard with the back four on the defensive shape because I thought both full backs were looking to go forward before we'd got possession of the ball and we were getting done on the counter attack. But, we've worked hard on the basic A, B, C where the right-back goes, the left-back stays and they've knuckled down and really stuck at it.'
