'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Moore pays his respects to Richard Butcher

Rotherham United Manager, Ronnie Moore says that Macclesfield player, Richard Butcher was a player with such ability that he could have played at a higher level.

Paying his respects to the twenty-nine year old midfielder who played under Moore at Oldham and who sadly died earlier this week, Moore said, 'He was such a fit lad who would win short sprints as well as runs over distance. He`d be the last person I would think something like this would happen to when so young.

Speaking to Les Payne of The Star, Moore carried on, 'I used to warn my daughter never to bring home a footballer but I would have made an exception for Richard Butcher, he was such a fantastic and likeable lad.

'My thoughts go out to his Mum and Dad who are the nicest people you could wish to meet, to his family and his team mates at Macclesfield.

'It certainly puts football into perspective doesn`t it?`

Richie played his last game for Macclesfield against Rotherham, scoring his last goal for them on New Years Day at Bury.

Everyone at Vital Rotherham send our condolences to Richard's family
