RUFC - Former Miller passes away

Vital Rotherham have today found out about the sad passing of former Miller, Alan Kirkman

Born in Bolton, Alan was an inside forward who had an eye for goal and scored for the Millers in the first leg of the 1961 League Cup Final against Aston Villa at Millmoor.

Alan began his career with Manchester City and scored six goals in seven appearances before moving to Millmoor for £4,000 in March 1959. That season he scored four goals which helped the club avoid relegation. In the 1961/2 season, Alan scored twenty-two goals which included a hat-trick against Leeds United.

After leaving the Millers, Alan went on to play for Newcastle United, Scunthorpe, Torquay and Workington.

Vital Rotherham send our condolences to his family
