'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Rumours, Rumours, Rumours

Rotherham United and rumours never seem to be far apart these days - rumours about the club, the players, the management, the fans - some of these rumours actually come to fruition, but, as we know, many don't.

The rumourmongers (is that a word?) were in full swing at Don Valley on Saturday afternoon, as we watched the team slump to their first defeat since the last time they played Southend back in October.

So, what were these rumours?

We'd heard before we left for the match that Manager, Ronnie Moore was going to Bournemouth which was the rumour also doing the rounds at Don Valley.

Before the games someone came to me and said Ian Thomas-Moore was going to sign 'today' for the Millers - well 'today' has been and gone and Ronnie's lad still hasn't appeared.

There's the rumour that Michael Appleton, the first team coach of West Brom, has been seen in the presence of our Chairman.

I've also heard that Tranmere Rovers are going to report Ronnie Moore to the Football League for trying to 'tap-up' the above said Ian - not sure if you can actually tap-up your own son, to be honest, and all I've heard Ronnie say is that he'd like Ian to come to Rotherham.

Shaun Harrad was another player 'who was signing this weekend' - well, I know it's only Monday morning, but he's not here either.

Over the last few months we've heard the Alfie (Adam Le Fondre) will be leaving in January/end of the season and going to Derby, Barnsley, Sheffield Wednesday, Leeds and yesterday I heard Burnley and Blackpool are looking at him - hmmm, really? No, I don't think so either.

I've recently heard the stirrings of a rumour that former Miller Chris Sedgwick is coming back on loan - well, as he's starting for the Owls on a regular basis I can't really see that happening.

All football fans like a good bit of gossip and like to pass on titbits of information which, usually end up as rumours. But, are rumours a bad thing in football?
I don't think they are - as long as you remember that they are rumours and not gospel and that they don't hurt anyone's feelings - and, they might be rumours but they must come from somewhere....

So, if you want to share your rumours with us, we will listen. We might smile and nod and wink but we will listen!

Come and join us here on Vital Rotherham and tell us the latest rumours you've heard....
