'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - View from the Opposition - Gillingham

Rotherham United Manager said his defenders were 'pathetic' after the three-one loss at Gillingham last night, while Gills Manager, Andy Hessenthaler was proud of his teams performance.

Speaking to Radio Kent, Hessenthaler said, 'I thought it was a real team effort tonight.

'I'm proud tonight. We changed our shape a little bit and I thought the boys adapted to it very well and they gave everything tonight. They had the tempo and the desire to go out their and raise the game and won it.

'The only niggle really was that we gave a goal away straight after we'd scored when we switched off but I thought it was an exceptional team performance.

'We knew we'd got to take points off the teams around us and we needed to go and beat Rotherham tonight and we've done that. Cody McDonald was disappointed he didn't get a hat-trick tonight. I got a list of the scouts who were watching before the game tonight and I'm sure they were here to watch Rotherham's Le Fondre and Ryan Taylor, who is a very good player, but I think they would have been pleased with Cody as well.'
