'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Millers Appoint new Community Director

Rotherham United have appointed former Radio Sheffield commentator, Brian Chapple as the new Community Director.

Brian`s role on the board will be to help spearhead the clubs move back to Rotherham and to ensure the stadium will have all the modern day facilities that the community needs.

Brian has been following the Millers for over forty years and will be a familiar voice, if not face, to many Rotherham supporters due to his work for Radio Sheffield, where he worked from 1982 to 2004. He has recently worked with the Rotherham Titans and has also done community work in the town while he is the current Chairman of The Rotherham Partnership.

Speaking to the Official Site, Brian said, 'Tony Stewart asked me to become involved in providing Rotherham with a fantastic new home and, from the designs I`ve seen the stadium is going to be something everyone in Rotherham can be immensely proud of.

'I have to say, when I was asked to join the board, I was a little taken aback but it only took me a second to say 'yes`. I`m really excited about getting started.

'I moved to Rotherham forty years ago and have followed the club since 1970. I have seen some great times following the club - the trips to Wembley and the promotions and I`m now delighted to be on board to help create more memorable moments for years to come.`

Chairman, Tony Stewart said, 'Brian has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the community of Rotherham and we are delighted to have him on board to enhance the community aspect of our new stadium. His input will be invaluable as we press ahead with our plans for the new stadium.

'I am looking forward to working with Brian at this very exciting time for the football club and I am certain that his appointment can only benefit the club and the community as a whole.`
