'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Millers file complaint over 'tackle'

Rotherham United Manager, Ronnie Moore confirmed over the weekend that the club has filed a report to the Football Association voicing their concerns over the way that Andy Warrington received an head injury at Gillingham on Tuesday night.

Curtis Weston seemed to go into Warrington after the 'keeper had hold of the ball, leaving three nasty gashes in the Millers' shot stoppers head, which left him with ten stitches.

Speaking to The Star a furious Moore said, 'It was a horrific stamp to the head. It looks like Andy has been in a car crash, not a football game.

'They (Gillingham) keep saying it wasn't deliberate but when the 'keeper has the ball in his hands and you tackle his head, there's something not quite right. If he (Weston) had done that on a Saturday night he'd have been locked up.

'I'm going to go as high as I can with this and let everyone know that we aren't happy with the situation. I don't see why he should be treated any different from the Premier League boys.'

Chief Executive Officer, Paul Douglas said, 'Having had the opportunity to view it on video it is clearly a reckless tackle and there was no way the player was going to win the ball and there was little thought for Andy's safety. It was pure luck that Andy wasn't seriously injured. It should have warranted a red card.'

Gillingham Manager, Andy Hessenthaler, said, 'I work with Curtis every day and I know it was a genuine mistake. We've all mistimed tackles. Both Curtis and I have apologised to the goalkeeper.'
