'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Henderson loved his Millers debut

Rotherham United signed striker, Liam Henderson on Tuesday morning and the twenty-one year old made his first team debut in the two-nil win over Accrington Stanley at Don Valley on Tuesday evening.

After the game, Liam said he loved every minute of his debut and speaking to MillersPlayer he said, 'Unfortunately, I couldn't score but I'll take the two assists and it's great to get off to a winning start.'

For the first assist it looked to us, sat in the stands, that he should actually have had a penalty and he agreed but said, 'As it happens it didn't matter because we got a lucky break and Omar (Daley) put it away. But, had he not scored I think there might have been a few discussion with the referee.

'It's been a bit of an unbelievable day - I drove up this morning, got some sleep this afternoon and then to get a victory tonight you can't go wrong! I signed the papers down at Watford at half past nine and then set straight off up here to the hotel to get my head down. Then I came straight to the ground.'

Asked how much he knew about Rotherham United, Liam said, 'I've always kept an eye on them, particularly because of Le Fondre because he scores goals for fun. And, they aren't at the top end of the table for no reason. I am more than happy to come here and help them push for promotion.

'My contract with Watford is up at the end of the season so hopefully I'll come here and do a good job and either get rewarded with a new contract at Watford or move on to new pastures, crack on and make a name for myself in the game that way. At this stage of my career it's all about playing football. The more games you play the more experienced you get and the more you can make a name for yourself and work your way up the leagues.'

Liam then went onto talk about his strengths saying, 'I like to hold the ball up, I like to chase channels and I think my work rate is second to none and, as I showed tonight, not only do I score goals, I set them up.'

The lad played very well, I thought

That was a good game for him then, to say he'd never trained with the Millers, or by the sound of it, never even met them. He slotted in very well!

And he played a full reserve game on the Monday for Watford!
