'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Pope's got his smile back

Rotherham United striker, Tom Pope says he is desperate to stop at Port Vale when his months loan is up.

Speaking after helping Vale beat Bradford by scoring both goals in the two-one win, the twenty-five year old told Radio Stoke, 'I've got my smile back. I want to stay here.'

Tom, who joined the Millers from Crewe in the summer of 2009, is a life-long Vale fan carried on, 'The lads and the fans have been brilliant with me here and I don't see why I would want to leave. All I can do is keep playing and doing my best to impress.'

Vale Manager, Jim Gannon has had nothing but praise for Pope since he joined the Valiants said, 'Tom's justified us working really hard to keep him because he does add something to the team and the Chairman is keen to support me in keeping Tom. But, sometimes the decision is out of your hands. He's a Rotherham player and Rotherham might feel it's within their rights to bring him back. Unless he's going to play football that would be a shame for the lad.'
