RUFC - Moore 'we didn't punish them'

Rotherham United Manager, Ronnie Moore was rueing the missed chances this afternoon as the Millers could only draw against Barnet who are in the bottom two of the table.

'When you`re on top you have to punish them, and we didn`t do that,` Moore told Radio Sheffield.

'We played some good stuff in the first half and everything was good about the first half except the goals. We didn`t test the 'keeper enough, especially the one where Jaybo (Jason Taylor) has gone clean through, you expect him to take the net off but I don`t think he really knew what he was going to do with it. And there wasn`t enough quality on the crosses when they came in. But they`ve worked hard enough but didn`t get the break and if you don`t get the break the next best thing is don`t get beat. We`ve kept a clean sheet so that`s encouraging but, if you want to be in the top three then you have to be winning these games.

'But with ten men on a pudding of a pitch which it is at Don Valley at the moment with the rugby being played on it the 'keeper has made two or three great saves for us and that`s kept us in the game.

'But we aren`t going to use the pitch as an excuse because we`d been on top and we didn`t take the opportunities when they came. If you don`t take those opportunities against a side that`s struggling you eventually end up hanging on like we were. And we shouldn`t be hanging on. It was the ten men that caused it really.

'The performances now don`t matter it`s the results that matter but the other results have gone against us today but it`s in our own hands, it`s what we do that matters. We`ve still got the Gillingham`s, the Shrewsbury`s, the Bury`s and the Chesterfield`s to play and we win them games and we`ve got one hell of a chance.`
