'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - No ground share at new stadium

Rotherham United Chairman, Tony Stewart told the Fans Forum that a ground share with the Rotherham Titans Rugby Club is well and truly out of the window.

'It was never going to happen and it never will,` Mr Stewart said. 'Not only have we had problems with rugby at Don Valley, the Titans season runs alongside our season and a ground share affects you not only on the field but commercially as well.`

Mr Stewart also said that the new stadium won`t be used for concerts - so we won`t have the problems like at Don Valley after U2 had played there.

I think most of us fans will be pleased to hear that the pitch is just for football although, I do feel a bit sorry for the Titans as, as I understood that when we first started looking for a ground, it was going to be a community stadium.

As announced last week the Titans are looking to move into Millmoor, where they did once ground share with the Millers there, and I think would suit them very well - though I imagine a lot of work will need doing on the stands.

Mr Stewart also said that the new ground will have undersoil heating and that the Football League are looking at a new type of synthetic surface that a lot of the European clubs are using, meaning there would be no grass cutting.
