'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Warney pre Cheltenham

Rotherham United assistant caretaker Manager, Paul Warne talks about Jamie Annerson and Tom Pope before tomorrows game with Cheltenham.

Speaking to MillersPlayer before the team left this afternoon for Cheltenham, Warney was asked about goalkeeper Jamie Annerson. 'Well, he's not the best but you have to go with what you've got don't you? No, I'm only joking. He's a very good 'keeper and I've got a lot of time for him. He's had a few first team games this year, against Burton and Crewe and done well in both. And, I thought it was unfortunate that he had to give his shirt back and he's got it again and if he does well he will keep the shirt it's as simpkle as that.'

'It's good to have Tom Pope back and it was a no brainer really for us to bring him back. We needed another option and he'd been doing well at Vale. Obviously we don't want him to do well at Vale to get them up and not us up. He's a Rotherham player and when he extended his months loan I spoke to him and told him we'd got a twenty-four hour call-back on him and as soon as we want to use it we will and he was happy with that. And he knows it's for the benefit of the club and hopefully for the benefit of the player because if he comes back and scores tomorrow then it's happy days for him. He's a good character and when he turned up yesterday there was an absolute roar and I think the change has done him good. He's got his appetite back and he'll have a good influence on the rest of our season.'
