'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC- Lidds 'it was all one way traffic'

Rotherham United caretaker Manager, Andy Liddell said his side battered Cheltenham this afternoon at Whaddon Road.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield after the game, Lidds said, 'It was all one way traffic. They has a couple of chances to be fair and the goal came from a mistake but there was only one team in it.

'When you get that commitment and desire from a team there's only one thing you can say and that's that you have to put your chances away. We worked well as a unit today and we were the best team on that pitch by a mile.

'Both sides worked hard today but we had a bit of quality and we just couldn't finish them off. No disrespect to Cheltenham, but I thought we were the only team on there who looked like we were going to win that game but we just didn't get the goals. But, I'm not going to stand here and have a go at them because I thought they were fantastic and we just needed that bit of luck.

'I thought Tom Pope was excellent today. He's come back fit and firing and he got his chance and he took it but didn't cap it off with a goal. But I thought he played really, really well today.

'It was good to see Ryan Cresswell get through the game with no signs of any recurrence that he had. Ian Thomas-Moore trained on Friday, kicked a ball and winced and I could tell he wasn't right. He'll be in tomorrow for treatment and I hope he'll be fit by next week, but I don't really know.'

Asked about Cheltenham's equaliser, Lidds admitted he couldn't see if Jamie Annerson had two hands on the ball when it was kicked out of his hands and said, 'He said he made a mistake. I couldn't see to be honest and I don't know what our lads were complaining about unless they thought he did have two hands on the ball. But the only thing I saw was it hit the back of our net.'

Now, I've got a lot of time for Lidds but, even after sleeping on it, I really can't agree with his view of the game yesterday.
