RUFC - Lidds 'it's hard picking a team'

Rotherham United caretaker Manager, Andy Liddell says that picking a team for each game is 'hard`.

Speaking to Les Payne of The Star, Lidds said, 'Me and Paul (Warne) are new to picking a team and it is hard, but we`re doing our best.`

Top scorer, Adam Le Fondre was dropped to the bench for the game against Cheltenham on Saturday, for the second time since Lidds and Warney took over, with Tom Pope being recalled from Port Vale and taking his place. Lidds was asked how he took it. 'Alf took the decision all right. He`s not happy when he`s not playing but it`s not just him, it`s the others as well.

'When you`ve taken the decision to drop a player then there is thought of how to explain it to him. I think they would say I`m honest with them and whoever they are I tell them what they are doing wrong, what they are doing right and how they can improve. I`ve no problem telling them what I think and if you explain it to them then they understand although they are disappointed because they want to play.

'We hope for the right response and we`ve all seen how they have responded after they`ve been left out.`
