RUFC - Do we need to be fitter and stronger?

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott has gone on record of thinking that the team need to be fitter and stronger.

I'm not really surprised at the 'stronger' bit, because I do think a lot of our players seem to get knocked off the ball quite easily of late and perhaps don't put in the tackles that we saw a few years ago.

But, fitter? Well, I'm not so sure of that. I was only thinking when we played Lincoln how fit we looked and never stopped running - although the same couldn't be said of the game at the B2Net when we looked like we'd just done a marathon before we came on the pitch. I think one of the fittest people at the club is Paul Warne and I can't see him letting any of the other players slack in that department.

Lack of goals recently might give the impression that the forwards aren't getting to crosses, but I rather think it's the crosses that aren't getting to the forwards.

After the game on Saturday against Hereford, Scott did say that although there were a lot of positives to be taken out of it, there was also a lot of work to do. And he seems to have started that work by talking to Ryan Taylor and Nicky Law about extending their contracts. He also said he was going to talk to the Youth team management and see how they fit in with the first team. To me, that can only be for the good.

So, what do you think? Do we need to be stronger and fitter?
