RUFC - Scott 'football is a ruthless business'

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott has made no secret of the fact that he wants to be involved with all aspects of the club - from first team down to the youth set-up and to be involved in the new stadium.

Speaking to David Beddows of The Advertiser, Scott said, 'I`m determined to succeed at Rotherham and get that winning feeling back.`

Scott, who a lot of people, including himself, think was unfairly sacked as Brentford manager in February, admitted that the Bees were going through a poor spell but said, 'A month before I got sacked we were going to Bournemouth looking for our seventh consecutive away win to get a club record. Football is a ruthless business but these things happen and you have a gripe about something but you bounce back. Getting back into the game is a real positive for me and there is no doubt in my mind that Brentford will be looking on enviously at Rotherham United in the future.

'No matter what I do off the pitch the success of this club is based on results and we have to make sure we pick up enough points to be successful, get into League One and then into the Championship. There have been problems in the past and there are areas that need a lot of work. I will be frank and honest and that is what the Chairman is asking for.

'I`m the focal point of the club and I want to make sure I lead by example.`

Talking about what he wanted from the football club he said, 'I like to have a team who are committed and energetic. A team who has pace, create chances, get crosses in and have shots and make other teams make mistakes. I`ve told the players that no one will enjoy playing against my sides because they`re aggressive and positive, organised and very hard working.`

After his first game as Manager of the Millers last weekend, Scott said he didn`t want to confuse the players with a lot of information. 'I kept back a few things we need to work on,` he admitted. 'As time ticks on I`ll start creeping things in and put things in their minds. Keep on at them and they`ll understand what I`m asking for. That`s when it comes together.`
