RUFC - Scott 'that's it'

RUFC - Scott 'that's it'

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott has given up on getting to the play-offs this season, even though there is a very little outside chance that it could still happen.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield after the one-nil defeat this afternoon to Gillingham, Scott said, 'I think you end up, at the end of the season, where you deserve to be and it`s clearly shown that we haven`t had the legs and the ability to go and get into the play-offs. We`ve been hanging on for the last two or three games but that`s it for the play-offs now. Other teams have given us a chance and we haven`t been able to take it at home. I think everyone can see that the level of the performances is dropping off after a certain period and the condition and the fitness is something to be looked at because it`s not good enough.`

Asked if he might play some other players in the final two games of the season, Scott said, `I think near enough everyone has had an opportunity and we want to win games. But I do need to look at players and I`ll have to look at the injury situation and what-have-you.

'I`m disappointed. But there was a reason I was given the job and a reason why Ronnie`s (Moore) not here. The players haven`t been able to do enough in the second half of the season and when there are problems at a club it`s very hard to turn it round so quickly. The squad`s lacking in many areas and I think that`s obvious to many people and that`s got to be addressed very quickly for the summer. But, I`ve got to tell you, there are some very good players here but we`ll be a different side next year, a different animal, without a doubt.`
