RUFC - Scott 'We weren't good enough'

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott saw his side lose this afternoon, at Don Valley, to Gillingham by one goal to nil.

Speaking after the defeat, Scott told Radio Sheffield, 'We weren`t good enough.

'We got to sixty/seventy minutes and we ran out of gas. I thought we had the energy going forward for the first sixty minutes but then we just tailed off and didn`t have that urgency about the game to go and get it over the line.

'We had some good chances in the first half that flashed across the box and then Alfie (Adam Le Fondre) comes on, and you think it`s meat and drink for him, and it that goes in it`s a different story.

We created a lot of chances but their front two put us under a lot of pressure and their goal came from a little bit of sloppiness out wide. We didn`t keep pressure on the ball and allowed a player inside and you get punished.`

Speaking about bringing in Jamie Green, Scott said, 'I went to watch Gillingham and I wanted in a naturally left footed player who could put crosses in the box and he did well. Ironically, it was Tongey (Dale Tonge) and even Warney (Paul Warne) when he came on and Tom Newey who put some good balls in the box but we just weren`t alive in the box or sharp enough and didn`t keep the ball in the right areas for long enough.`
