RUFC - Don Valley not to blame

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott says that Don Valley is NOT to blame for any failings during 'home' games.

Of the twenty-two League games this season, the Millers have only won nine of their games at Don Valley Stadium, drawing eight and losing five. Of the other eleven clubs who have won the same or less at 'home' than the Millers, only Stevenage are above them in the League. There's also the pitch at DVS that looked really good at the start of the season, but has recently shown wear and tear with lumps and bumps all over the place. Plus, the atmosphere is practically non-existent.

Speaking to The Advertiser, Scott said, 'We know Don Valley is a different atmosphere but the plus side is that the pitch is the same size as every other pitch. It's eleven v eleven and there's a referee and two linesman.'

Ed note - 'a referee and two linesman - well, that's a matter of opinion!

'The opposition have to play on it and we have to play on it and we have to generate the atmosphere and do the right things to make everyone happy. Don Valley is a fantastic facility and it's been helpful for us to have it rather than play elsewhere.

'Clearly, when we get back into the heart of Rotherham in the new stadium, then it will be fantastic and if we can do that in League One it will be terrific. But, in the meantime, we want to make the most of Don Valley and we can't be making excuses. I don't like excuses because if you look for them then you find them.'
