'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Scott 'I want to be successful'

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott told the team that it was the first game of next season yesterday before the two-all draw at Aldershot.

Speaking after the game yesterday, Scott said, 'I said to the lads this was the first game of next season because it was important they showed the capability of doing what I want them to do and I think there are encouraging signs. The ingredients are there, we just have to make the right mixture.

'I don`t want to be sitting around in League Two - I want to be successful and win the league. If we are a little bit short and come second or third then we can still achieve the ambition and get promoted.`

Speaking to the Football League Official Site, he said, 'When I first arrived it was a case of assessing not only the squad but the whole club. Obviously the aim was to get into the play-offs and we`ve had the opportunities to push on but we`ve fallen short.

'But, this is an ambitious club and you can see that by the way the Chairman and the Board have backed me in the short time I`ve been here. I think I can excel here and the future looks promising.`
