RUFC - Millers boss to plan for the future

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott says he is going to speak to all the players next Monday about their future at the club.

Speaking to MillersPlayer this week, Scott said that, although he was pleased with how the team came back from being two down on Saturday at Aldershot, he doesn`t want them to be in that position again. 'We still made a few basic errors,` he said, 'but the way we created chances was excellent.`

Although he mentioned that there was some good individual performances, one of which was Adam Le Fondre`s, he said it`s not just about consistency from individuals but from a team prospective. Talking about Liam Henderson, who is on loan from Watford, and was given a start on Saturday, Scott said, 'It`s difficult for Liam because he is naturally a centre-forward, but we are thin on the ground with injuries at the moment, but I wanted to look at him and he played wide right, where he has played before. If I`m honest, he found it hard to get in the game but he`s keen and he`s worked hard and did what he could.

'But, I`m still looking at everything and looking at the performances of the lads and seeing if they are worthy of being here next year. But I`m not looking at any player that is out of contract until the 9th May, when I`ll sit down with them all including Ryan Taylor and his agent.`

Asked about the coaching staff for next season, Scott said, 'I`ve an idea what I want to do. But I want to get this season out of the way and then I`ll speak to the lads here about what their roles are, what they can do and what I want to do with my staff. At the moment the lads are working hard and are committed with is great.`

Speaking to Les Payne of The Star, Scott said it was going to be a very busy time, saying, 'You have to plan ahead and be aware what's happening. We have to ensure that we do better next time. There`s some good players here but, overall, they`ve underachieved and I`m here to do something about that.`
